Harry Grove Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Frederick Keys and Winston-Salem Dash.

Johnny Sevilla, who is tied for 10th in the CAR in strikeouts with 140, never let the Keys get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Dash to a win, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Sevilla surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Joe Roe was credited with the save, his 5th in 7 tries.

Winston-Salem used a well-timed hit by Julio Nieves to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dash ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Nieves attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."

Winston-Salem is now 59-68. Frederick is 79-48.
