The Lynchburg Hillcats beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 5-1, at Ed Smith Stadium. Starting pitcher Larry Michelotti was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 8 innings, Michelotti surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Adam Bolle, his 5th.
Stuart Wyffels made an early impact for Lynchburg when he stroked his 6th triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which came with one out in the bottom of the third, put the Hillcats on top, 2-0.
"Eventually, the carousel ride will end," said Michelotti. "But for now, we'll do our best to enjoy it."
Lynchburg's record now stands at 100-28, placing them first in the Northern Division.
