Due in large part to right fielder Brendon McOwen, the Wilmington Blue Rocks sunk the Frederick Keys, 7-3. McOwen went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Armando Rosa, who is tied for 9th in the CAR in strikeouts with 128, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-9. The losing pitcher was Jim Coffey. By defeating Frederick, the last-place Blue Rocks improved to 59-70.

Wilmington took a 4-2 lead on McOwen's 27th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Jim Coffey in the top of the seventh, propelled Wilmington to the win.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said McOwen.
