Behind a fine performance from Tom Wipf, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans knocked off the Salem Red Sox, 8-6. Wipf was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Pelicans. Myrtle Beach pitcher Lorenzo Llamas got the win, upping his record to 12-9. Jose Gijon got the loss. Ryan LaBrasca, who is tied for 2nd in the CAR in saves with 11, nailed down the save.

In the bottom of the third inning, shortstop Omar Hercules had a 2-run home run for Myrtle Beach. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Pelicans on top, 4-2.

Wipf said afterward that "winning is the goal."
