Mudcats Use Late Surge to Win
|
Carolina overcame a superior effort from Gabriel Tauke to beat Winston-Salem, 6-2. The Winston-Salem pitcher threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The Mudcats now have a record of 53-77 with the win over Winston-Salem.
Carolina used the timely hitting of Jared Miles to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mudcats on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Winston-Salem manager Sam Simmons.
