The Salem Red Sox knocked off the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 4-1, in Carolina League action at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Salem pitcher and Lagunas de Nisibón, Dominican Republic, native Leo Alderete had an outstanding performance. The Red Sox now have a record of 52-78.

Early in the game, first baseman James Goodwin had a 2-run home run for Salem. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Red Sox on top, 2-0.

"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Alderete.
