Hillcats Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Lynchburg Hillcats eventually prevailed.
The Lynchburg Hillcats picked up a win at Harry Grove Stadium, knocking off the Frederick Keys, 4-3, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Eddie Valdez played a key role in the triumph. The first-place Keys now sit at 74-58.
Lynchburg used the timely hitting of Bill Thomas to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hillcats on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Thomas, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
