Blue Rocks Wiggle Past Potomac, 3-2
|
The Wilmington Blue Rocks took Potomac pitcher Alex Azucena's best shot and still were able to claim a win at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. The final score had Wilmington getting past the Nationals, 3-2. Azucena went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 10. Wilmington reliever Robert Gastelum picked up the win to move to 5-2. Jeff Koch suffered the loss. The win puts Wilmington at 69-64 this season.
Wilmington used the timely hitting of Shane Watrous to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Wilmington manager Bobby Clontz.
