Dash Topple Mudcats, 9-3, as Hendrix Shines
|
The Winston-Salem Dash handed the Carolina Mudcats a loss at Grainger Stadium. The final score was 9-3. Ryan Hendrix was one of the major contributors for Winston-Salem. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Diego Puete got the win, improving to 11-5. He held the Mudcats to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 5. The Dash raised their record to 80-55.
Hendrix contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Winston-Salem in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Hendrix took a curveball from Danny Nunez and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Dash to leap in front, 6-3.
"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Carolina skipper Jason Hawkins.
