Carolina Mudcats starter Victor Barrera turned in a sparkling performance against the Winston-Salem Dash, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Armando Padilla recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 5 for 8. Carolina is now 63-73. Winston-Salem is 80-56.

Carolina took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Joe Matthews hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Mudcats in front, 3-2.

"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Sam Simmons.
