G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium featured a tense pitchers' duel.

In a tight game between the Potomac Nationals and the Salem Red Sox, pitcher Bobby Vazquez was terrific on the mound. The Potomac left-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Eric Staat earned his 1st save in 2 chances.

The Nationals got a big at-bat from left fielder J.J. Braun. For the game, Braun went 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Potomac a 2-1 lead.

"Tough loss," said Salem manager Arturo Cobian. "This one will sting for a while."

The Nationals sit in last place in the Northern Division with a record of 54-83.
