In a low-scoring clash between Carolina and Wilmington, pitcher Alex Buitrago was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 2-1 Mudcats win. The Mudcats now have a mark of 57-81.

Carolina won the game in part because of Rich Diaz. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mudcats ahead, 2-1. For the game, Diaz had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Diaz said.
