The Myrtle Beach Pelicans faced a tough opponent in Winston-Salem pitcher Gabriel Tauke, but did just enough to pull out the victory at BB&T Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Tauke went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Leo Felix. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Colt Byler finished the game for Myrtle Beach and earned his 11th save.

Myrtle Beach used a timely hit from Nate Barr to get the win. The right fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We were in it," said Winston-Salem manager Sam Simmons. "We just didn't score enough runs."

Myrtle Beach leads the Southern Division by 32 games.
