The Wilmington Blue Rocks got a good effort from starter Bill Fike in defeating the Potomac Nationals at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Kevin Stuckey sewed up the save, his 1st. With the win, Wilmington upped its record to 85-55.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Austin Penland? The Wilmington center fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 2-0. For the game, Penland had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Fike told the Wilmington Daily. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
