Hammerheads Lose at Home, 2-0
|
Palm Beach starter Ricky Fifield put a stranglehold on the Jupiter offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 win. In 7 innings, Fifield surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Ross Hall finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Palm Beach used a clutch at-bat from Matt Boetel to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Palm Beach skipper Greg Cary.
The Cardinals, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
