Yankees Topple Blue Jays, 5-1, as Sandoval Shines
|
Tampa left fielder Marcos Sandoval made his presence felt in the 5-1 Yankees triumph over the Dunedin Blue Jays. Sandoval was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Andy Eason, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 2-1. The win gives Tampa a record of 10-8.
With Tampa leading 2-1 in the top of the ninth, Sandoval hit a sinker from David Waller for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 4-1.
"We played hard and won," said Sandoval. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
