The Lakeland Flying Tigers beat the Fort Myers Miracle, 4-3, at Joker Marchant Stadium. Lakeland shortstop Steve Estes had an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ernie Lowery picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-3 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Fort Myers drops to 14-9.
There was more than one reason the Flying Tigers beat the Miracle, but Estes's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I felt good about my swing," said Estes.
