Hammerheads Trip Yankees, 1-0
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Jupiter Hammerheads and Tampa Yankees.
Jupiter Hammerheads starter Blake Vance turned in an exceptional performance against the Tampa Yankees at Roger Dean Stadium, resulting in a Jupiter win, 1-0. Vance, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs.
Luke Baker came through for Jupiter when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a two-strike splitter to left-center field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
In postgame remarks, Baker applauded his team's "resolve."
The setback makes the Yankees 7-15.
