The Brevard County Manatees bested the Daytona Tortugas by a score of 7-4, with shortstop Carlos Topete getting the main credit. On the day, Topete hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Manatees. Daytona is 13-14 after the defeat.

Rick Reid, who is tied for 10th in the FSL with a .894 OPS, took Daytona hurler Mario Martinez deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Manatees on top, 7-4. In all, Reid had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"They beat us fair and square," Daytona skipper Luis Portillo said.
