Marauders Drop Cardinals, 10-5
|
The Bradenton Marauders defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals, 10-5, at Calvin Falwell Field. Nick Popp was one of the standouts for Bradenton. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Malik Finley got the win, improving to 1-2. He held the Cardinals to 4 runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The Marauders with just their 8th win in 28 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
In the bottom of the fifth, Bradenton left fielder Frank Keen had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Keen stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 5-4, Bradenton. For the game, he went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Bradenton skipper Jeremy Littlefield.
