Tortugas Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
The Daytona Tortugas racked up a win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, bumping off the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-2, in 11 innings. Felix Tello, who started for Daytona, pitched effectively for his team. Daytona leads the FSL North by 2½ games.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Jordan Tovar came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Dunedin pitcher Alfredo Gonzalez, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Daytona on top, 2-1.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Tortugas manager Bob Rogers.
