The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at George M. Steinbrenner Field, knocking off the St. Lucie Mets, 5-0. Starting pitcher Dan Simon played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Simon, now 4-1. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. With the win, Tampa upped its record to 17-14.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at George M. Steinbrenner Field seemed to enjoy watching the Florida State League action.

"Dan didn't monkey around out there," said Tampa field general Ernesto Blanco.
