Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Clearwater Threshers and Fort Myers Miracle.
Clearwater picked up a win at Bright House Field, bumping off the Fort Myers Miracle, 6-3. Pitcher Willie Nunez was a major reason the Threshers emerged victorious. In 8 innings, Nunez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs.
Had Kareem Hadnot not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hadnot hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Threshers.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Clearwater manager Frank Ricker.
The last-place Threshers sport a record of 13-24.
