Dunedin Blue Jays starter Gus Alba turned in an exceptional performance against the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field, resulting in a Dunedin win, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Alba, now 4-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Dunedin is in first place in the FSL North with a record of 24-15.
Juan de la Pena broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the third with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Blue Jays in front, 1-0. For the game, de la Pena was 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Troy Nelson. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
