Runs were plentiful at Tradition Field.

St. Lucie center fielder Mike Pond pounded Daytona Tortugas pitchers at Tradition Field, but it was not enough to keep the Mets from falling, 10-9. Pond slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Daytona pitcher Dave King got the win, upping his record to 3-4. Johnny Orellana got the loss.

Daytona used the clutch hitting of Brett Hicks to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Tortugas the lead, 10-8. For the game, Hicks had 2 singles and 1 double in 6 at-bats.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Hicks.

The loss makes St. Lucie 23-16.
