Clearwater Beaten, 5-4, by Bradenton
|
The Bradenton Marauders did just enough to secure a victory over the Clearwater Threshers, 5-4, in 10 innings at Bright House Field. Nobody did more than pitcher John Schmitz. Reliever Luis Sierra picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Kevin Elder, who leads the FSL in saves with 11, took the loss. Nate Gardner got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Bradenton used a timely hit from Chris Buckingham to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Marauders ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Big win," said Buckingham.
The loss makes Clearwater 20-20.
