Charlotte Gets 3-1 Road Win
|
Charlotte and St. Lucie played a hard-fought contest.
The Charlotte Stone Crabs went home winners at Tradition Field, thanks in large part to starter Jason Wengerd. Wengerd stifled the St. Lucie Mets, enabling Charlotte to grab the 3-1 win. The winner was Wengerd. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Frank Perez.
Charlotte used the hitting of Omar Navarro to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stone Crabs on top, 3-0. For the game, Navarro had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Charlotte skipper Victor Beltran.
The Mets have now dropped 5 straight.
