Charlotte Beats Palm Beach as Wengerd Throws 3-0 Shutout
|
Jason Wengerd was dynamite at Charlotte Sports Park, blowing away the Palm Beach Cardinals in a shutout victory. The Charlotte Stone Crabs starter had everything working as he held the Cardinals to 3 hits in the 3-0 win.
"He was pure nasty out there today," said Palm Beach skipper Greg Cary. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."
Wengerd finished the game with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk.
This year, Wengerd has made 11 starts, thrown 75.2 innings, fanned 78 batters and walked 19. His won-lost record is 4-4 with a 3.09 ERA.
