The Tampa Yankees, despite a fine performance by Brevard County pitcher Andy McDougall, grabbed a 3-2 win in 10 innings at Space Coast Stadium. McDougall allowed 1 run over 7 innings. Richard Silverstone snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 2-7 on the season. The defeat makes Brevard County 35-21.
Tampa used the timely hitting of Jimmy Dillard to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Yankees on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Dillard said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
