Miracle Rally to Nose Past Daytona
The Miracle earned a hard-fought, 4-3 win in 11 innings at Hammond Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Daytona pitcher T.J. Lerma. Lerma went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Fort Myers reliever Jon Kaufenberg picked up the win to move to 1-0. Vinny Torrez suffered the loss. The Miracle win now puts them at 36-21.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Fort Myers left fielder Juan Gomez, facing Vinny Torrez, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Miracle the 4-3 win.

"We had a chance to win," said Daytona manager Luis Portillo, "but we didn't get it done."
