Lakeland Drops Bradenton in Pitchers' Duel
|
Lakeland took on Bradenton in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Kyle Nordbye, in particular, was fantastic. The Lakeland right-hander helped his team snag the win, 2-1. Nordbye yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 4, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-2. The 4th-place Marauders now sit at 27-30.
Lakeland center fielder Pedro Roman helped the Flying Tigers go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Roman hit a run-scoring single off Bradenton pitcher Matt Skeels.
"Kyle's focus was outstanding. The way he handled every moment -- when there was a little trouble, he didn't lose his tempo or his rhythm," said Lakeland manager Cesar Santos.
