Clearwater Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
|
The Clearwater Threshers extended their losing streak with a defeat by the St. Lucie Mets.
The St. Lucie Mets went home winners at Tradition Field, thanks in large part to starter Ross Pepper. Pepper stifled the Clearwater Threshers, enabling St. Lucie to grab the 5-1 win. St. Lucie reliever Jesus Alvarado was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Willie Maciel took the loss. Erik Rice closed the door for St. Lucie, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Eddie Herrera, who is tied for 10th in the FSL in stolen bases with 16, chipped in a 2-run home run for St. Lucie in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Clearwater manager Luis Alvarez.
Clearwater is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.
