Dunedin got a decent performance from pitcher Alex Lopez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tampa Yankees. Tampa won the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium contest, 4-3. Lopez threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Jeff Tinch got credit for the save for Tampa. It was his 4th of the year. The 5th-place Yankees improved to 25-34.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Fernando Nunez? The 23-year old catcher Nunez stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Tampa up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

Dunedin manager Manny Miranda said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
