Marauders Stun Hammerheads, 4-2
|
The Jupiter Hammerheads got a superb performance from pitcher Devin DeVary, but the Bradenton Marauders still won the game, 4-2. DeVary threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win went to Carlos Mondragon in relief, making him now 1-3. Dave Rodriguez took the loss for Jupiter. Santiago Sorto nailed down the save.
Bradenton used the timely hitting of Elias Valdes to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marauders on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Bradenton skipper Jeremy Littlefield.
Bradenton sits in 5th place in the FSL South at 24-36.
