The Tampa Yankees trumped the Palm Beach Cardinals, 6-5, at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Tampa shortstop Jeff Benhart was terrific. He was 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. Bubba Tompkins, 1-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Their 29-35 record puts the Yankees 4th in the FSL North.

Antonio Sandoval drove in one run for Tampa. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Will Patton. It was his 18th RBI of the season.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Benhart told the Tampa Today.
