Thanks in large part to first baseman Craig Nagel, the St. Lucie Mets beat the Clearwater Threshers, 7-1. Nagel went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI. Alex Cuellar locked down his 4th save. The 4th-place Mets improved to 32-34.
With St. Lucie leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Nagel hit a run-scoring single off Clearwater hurler Derrick Landry. It was the 17th hit of the season for Nagel and put his team ahead, 4-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Nagel told the St. Lucie Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
