Mets Cut Down Yankees, 5-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Tampa Yankees and St. Lucie Mets get after it.
St. Lucie pinch hitter Tyler Krznarich played a vital role in his team's 5-2 conquest of Tampa. He went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for St. Lucie. Bert Reed came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2.
Krznarich had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Marco Nieves, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Mets a 5-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Krznarich.
"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Krznarich.
The defeat makes Tampa 29-39.
