Stone Crabs Deal Tortugas 4-2 Setback
Charlotte pitcher Jimmy Thompson had a large part in his team beating the Daytona Tortugas, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Charlotte reliever Fernando Perez snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bobby Segovia shouldered the loss. Kevin Albert earned the save, his 9th, for the Stone Crabs.

The Tortugas had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Stone Crabs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Danny Carrasquillo came to the plate. Carrasquillo hit a solo home run on a 1-0 slider from Daytona hurler Bobby Segovia. It was Carrasquillo's 6th home run of the year.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Charlotte manager Victor Beltran.

The Stone Crabs sit in third place in the FSL South with a record of 36-32.
