Blue Jays Knock Off Mets at Tradition Field
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Dunedin Blue Jays and St. Lucie Mets.
Right-hander Jim Rainey mesmerized the St. Lucie Mets while leading the Dunedin Blue Jays to a 6-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Rainey, now 2-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Victor Castorena recorded his 2nd save for Dunedin.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jeff Dolcini? The Dunedin catcher had a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 1-0. For the game, Dolcini had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Dolcini.
The first-place Blue Jays lifted their record to 52-17.
