Threshers Lose Late, 8-4
|
The Bradenton Marauders took Clearwater pitcher Miguel Mota's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bright House Field. The final score had Bradenton getting past the Threshers, 8-4. Mota went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 8. The win belongs to Brian Hixson in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Juan Guzman took the loss for Clearwater. Bradenton, at 20-49, occupies 5th place in the FSL South.
Bradenton used the timely hitting of Noel Jacobs to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Marauders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"When you think about it," Jacobs said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
