Cardinals Nip Blue Jays, 5-4
|
The Palm Beach Cardinals weathered a fine game by Dunedin second baseman Hugo Sotelo to upend the Blue Jays, 5-4, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Sotelo was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. By defeating Dunedin, the third-place Cardinals improved to 49-44.
Palm Beach used the timely hitting of Josh Wojnowski to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Palm Beach manager Greg Cary praised his team's "energy."
