Soggy conditions did not keep Daytona and St. Lucie from playing their scheduled game.

Daytona pitcher Wayne Collyer had a large part in his team subduing the St. Lucie Mets, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. In 5.2 innings, Collyer surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.

The Tortugas got a big at-bat from second baseman Jordan Tovar. For the game, Tovar was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 21st double of the season gave Daytona a 2-1 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Tovar told the Daytona Times.

The Tortugas have now won 5 straight.
