Stone Crabs Drop Another One, 4-0
|
St. Lucie pitcher Melvin Perez had a large part in his team beating the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 4-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. St. Lucie reliever Alex Buitrago was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Nalber Beaver. Charlotte has now lost 5 in a row.
Destin Brewer hit a run-scoring double off Nalber Beaver in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Mets in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Brewer had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said St. Lucie manager Troy Nelson. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
