Yankees Get 5-2 Win Versus Lakeland
|
The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at George M. Steinbrenner Field, knocking off the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 5-2. Starting pitcher Juan Sanchez played a key role in the triumph. In 6.1 innings, Sanchez surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Rafael Graham earned the save for Tampa, his 12th of the year.
Pat Grigg had a big 3-run home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tampa leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Pat Blair, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2104 draft, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 4-0.
Tampa manager Ernesto Blanco praised his team's "businesslike approach."
Tampa, at 34-51, occupies 5th place in the FSL North.
