St. Lucie got a terrific game from right fielder Josh Roberts. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Tampa, 5-4. Roberts went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tampa pitcher Jerry Custello got the win, upping his record to 4-6. Mike McGuire got the loss. The loss makes St. Lucie 45-46.

Alex Bosque chipped in for Tampa, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the designated hitter was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles.

"We squandered some opportunities," said St. Lucie manager Troy Nelson.
