Yankees Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
|
The Tampa Yankees had to overcome a fine effort from Daytona pitcher Kyle Cutberth to win, 3-2, in 10 innings at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Cutberth went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was Richard Silverstone. He is now 6-9. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Quincy Cunningham picked up the save, his 3rd.
Tampa used a timely hit from Jimmy McCarter to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
Tampa manager Mitch Renfer called it "a darn good win."
Tampa is last in the FSL North with a record of 41-52.
