Marauders Snag 3-2 Win
|
Bradenton Marauders starter Joe Winfield hurled his team past the Clearwater Threshers, 3-2. Israel Gonzalez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. The 5th-place Marauders hiked their record to 49-50.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Elias Valdes? The 22-year old center fielder Valdes stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Bradenton up, 3-2. For the game, he was 4 for 5, including 1 double and 3 singles.
"It's not by accident that Joe finds ways to get outs," said Bradenton skipper Jeremy Littlefield.
