Miracle Victorious at Daytona, 5-3
|
The Fort Myers Miracle topped the Daytona Tortugas, 5-3, in Florida State League action at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Fort Myers pitcher and Valencia, Venezuela, native David Pico. Pico got the win, improving to 9-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Jose Nevares was credited with the save, his 3rd in 3 tries.
Chipping in for Fort Myers was left fielder Malik Gambrell. He stroked a single in the top of the first. For the game, Gambrell was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It never gets old," said Pico. "Winning, that is."
Today's win puts Fort Myers at 63-38, while Daytona falls to 44-57.
