Yankees Lose at Home, 3-1, to Palm Beach
|
Conditions were not ideal but Palm Beach and Tampa were able to put their game in the books.
Palm Beach turned a good effort from starter Rick Trojanowski into a win over the Tampa Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The Cardinals won the game, 3-1. In 8.1 innings, Trojanowski surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Chris Oliver closed the door for Palm Beach, picking up his 4th save of the year.
In the bottom of the ninth, Adam Jordan stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Yankees were trailing 3-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when Chris Oliver made a terrific pitch and Jordan struck out. Gone was the dream of a Tampa comeback.
The Cardinals, now 71-39, have won 5 in a row.
