Blue Jays Go Down to Defeat, 2-1
|
The Fort Myers Miracle topped the Dunedin Blue Jays, 2-1, in Florida State League action at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Fort Myers pitcher Juan Gutierrez. Gutierrez, now 10-4, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Picking up his 7th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Marc Sabean.
Fort Myers used a well-timed hit by Kevin Moore to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Miracle ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Fort Myers manager Bashir Mothudi commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
With the win, Fort Myers pushed its record to 64-47.
