Stone Crabs Pick Up 2-1 Road Win Over Bradenton
Calvin Falwell Field featured a tense pitchers' duel.

The bats were silent much of the day at Calvin Falwell Field. But 22-year old third baseman Luis Sinchi produced just enough offense to carry the Stone Crabs past the Bradenton Marauders, 2-1. Sinchi was 3-3 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Charlotte reliever Gus Cantu picked up the win to move to 1-0. Mark Brooks suffered the loss.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Sinchi hit a 2-run home run off Mark Brooks. It propelled the Stone Crabs into the lead, 2-0.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Bradenton manager Jeremy Littlefield.

With the win, the Stone Crabs improved to 53-59.
